Mon Bijou’s designer, Julietta Bailly is French, but spent much of her childhood and adult life traveling and living in different countries. Julietta commonly says “I used to be French, now I am a woman of the world”. She draws inspiration from all cultures, which influence her creations, such as Zala from the Amazonian Indians of Brazil, where she spent 10 years of her life. Her artistic jewelry designs are also greatly influenced by Africa and the African countries where she visited or lived. Julietta sees potential jewelry in the most diverse and unusual things, and often views nature and the sea as her muses that inspire new pieces.
The designer also enjoys creating custom jewelry to suit each woman’s specific personality. Each piece is made of silver or brass plated silver. Julietta’s dream is to raise enough money to one day be able to open a center for orphaned children in a poor country. This is a promise she made to herself when she lived in Brazil, and a portion of all proceeds from Mon Bijou will be used to help fulfill this goal.
